IRBO researchers and member firms are currently collaborating on the following projects:
- Biopharmaceutical Supply Chain Risk Response Optimization: IRBO researchers are working with IRBO industrial members to develop tools and approaches to characterize the dynamic response of biopharmaceutical supply chains to catastrophic events, to assess the effectiveness of various strategies for mitigating risk, to develop graphs of the tradeoff between cost and customer service level associated with risk mitigation strategies for various high-risk events, and to optimize supply chain operation for most effective risk mitigation.
- Inventory Positioning in the Biopharmaceutical Supply Chain: IRBO researchers are working with IRBO industrial members to develop tools and approaches to determine the most effective inventory positioning within the biopharmaceutical supply chain to minimize costs will effectively guarding against supply chain uncertainty.
- Berkeley Biopharmaceutical Risk Scenario Project: A survey-based data collection project in which IRBO researchers will identify specific examples of biotech supply chain risk, develop a taxonomy, data base, and user interface so that this data collection can effectively be reviewed and used by industry, and develop a methodology to continually update this data collection. We anticipate that this data will be useful by itself, and will lead to a variety of additional research efforts focused on tools and approaches for measuring and assessing and mitigating the various risks identified.
